Free dinosaur-themed merging game

Developed by HIGAME Global, Dino Evolution: Dinosaur Merge is a simple yet fun dinosaur-merging arcade game. The main goal is to grow your dinosaur from a small and weak lizard to the ultimate, humongous predator ever. However, larger dinosaurs are on the prowl, so you have to be careful.

Dino Evolution: Dinosaur Merge is similar to games like Dino Evolution: Merge Dinosaur and Fish Feeding Frenzy in terms of gameplay. Although, the graphics of this free-to-play game are noticeably simpler and less complicated. It is also quick to finish, needing only a level-15 dinosaur to conclude the game.

Eat the smaller dinos and avoid the bigger ones

Merge games are always a good way to pass the time, and Dino Evolution: Dinosaur Merge elevates that mechanic with a more hands-on approach. Instead of just swiping across a board and combining similar elements into a new item, this game lets players hunt down the prey needed to grow at their own pace. The player starts with a small, level-1 dinosaur that they have to feed until it reaches level 15.

The goal can be reached by dragging the dinosaur up and down the screen, consuming lower- and same-level dinos and avoiding bigger ones. There is a level bar at the top of the screen that fills up as your dino consumes another. Once full, your level increases by one—this goes on until you reach level 15 and the game ends. Although, you can sometimes skip levels by watching ads.

At the same time, there are consumable powerups that spawn randomly on the screen; however, these require having to watch an ad before you are able to use them. This is where one of the game’s major drawbacks comes in—it does not have native powerups that do not rely on ad-watching to be used. Furthermore, the simple and 2D graphics may look unappealing for more picky players.

Fun but ends quickly

Thanks to its easy-to-understand gameplay mechanics, Dino Evolution: Dinosaur Merge is not a complicated game to play. Players only have to drag a dino up and down the screen, fill up the level bar at the top by consuming smaller dinosaurs, and reach level 15. However, this simplicity is a double-edged sword as the game ends rather quickly and there is nothing more left to do.

PROS

  • Non-complex gameplay mechanics
  • Can skip levels and use powerups by watching ads

CONS

  • Rather short gameplay
  • Heavily reliant on ads for powerups
